The Glow Guide (“we,” “our,” or “us”) builds a skincare and beauty companion that helps you organize your products, track your skin over time, and plan your routines. We take the privacy of your skin and health-adjacent data seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the controls you have — including how to delete everything.
01Information we collect
Account information (you provide)
- Name and email address you use to register or that Apple shares when you use Sign in with Apple.
- If you register with email, an encrypted password credential (we never store your password in readable form).
Skincare & skin-health data (sensitive — you provide)
- Skin type and skin concerns (e.g. oily, dry, sensitive; acne, aging, redness).
- Skin logs and check-ins you record — which may include mood, sleep, stress, and menstrual-cycle notes you choose to add.
- Photos you capture or select for skin analysis.
- Your product cabinet, wishlist, usage frequency, routines, and treatment history.
We treat this as sensitive personal data and use it only to power features you have asked for. Where the law requires it (e.g. the EU/UK), we process this category of data on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to enter it and can withdraw at any time by deleting the data or your account.
Device & usage data (collected automatically)
- Device model, operating-system version, app version, and language/region.
- In-app events (which features you open) and diagnostic/crash information, used to fix bugs and improve the app.
Camera & photo library
We access your camera and photo library only when you actively use a feature that needs them — capturing a skin photo or scanning a product barcode. We never access them silently in the background. You can grant or revoke this permission any time in iOS Settings.
02How we use your information
- Run the core service: create and manage your account, build your routines, track skin progress, and alert you to product expirations.
- Personalize your experience: tailor recommendations, ingredient notes, and what you see based on your profile and logs.
- Keep the app safe and working: diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and protect your account.
- Support you: respond to your questions and feedback.
We do not use your skin, health, or beauty data to serve you advertising, and we do not sell it. See section 05.
03Sign in with Apple
You can sign in with Apple. Apple handles the authentication and only shares your name and an email address with us. If you choose Apple's Hide My Email feature, you share a private relay address instead of your real one — we can email you through it but never see your actual address. We do not receive your Apple password or biometric data.
05We don't track you across apps
The Glow Guide does not track you across other companies' apps and websites, and does not use third-party advertising SDKs for that purpose. Because we do not engage in this kind of tracking, the app does not present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
06International data transfers
We and our providers may store and process your data on servers located outside your country. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it in line with this policy and applicable law.
07Data storage & security
Data in transit is protected with encryption (HTTPS/TLS), and data stored with our backend provider is protected by their encryption-at-rest and access controls. Data kept on your device is protected by iOS. No system is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a data breach where the law requires.
08Data retention & deletion
We keep your personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we permanently erase your personal data — including skin photos, logs, routines, and registration email — from our systems within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to comply with law.
Delete your account in-app (App Store requirement). Open Settings → Privacy → Delete account in The Glow Guide. This permanently removes your data and cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by emailing us (section 12).
09Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
- Access and export a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data — you can edit your products, profile, and logs directly in the app;
- Delete your account and data (see section 08);
- Withdraw consent for sensitive-data processing at any time;
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
California residents: we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make any request, email us at the address below.
10Children's privacy
The Glow Guide is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If we learn we have collected data from a child below that age without proper consent, we will delete it promptly.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When changes are material, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
